Every now and then there is an early release of a Host version. Typically
to fix one bug or another. Tim doesn't post new host releases very frequently
now that Version 4 is his primary focus. Robo often has the opportunity to
use such a release.
As of October 9th 2002 Robo is using 3.22.046. As of July 17th 2000 Robo is using 3.22.027. The current host version in use can be found at http://www.robomaster.ca/guide/hostvers.html. As of Dec 14th 1999 Robo is using 3.22.026 but has 3.22.026h as an early release version. According to Tim the only changes in 026h are: The changes have only been in: The chunnel code, dealing with towing a chunnel ship and the PBP code. I have to assume that Tim has fixed the 'slip-chunnel' feature, as I have yet to test this. In 3.22.026 and earlier, it has been possible to tow a Firecloud AND have it chunnel, as long as the tower runs out of fuel. This has always been contrary to Tim's desire for the Firecloud. His intent has always been that this powerful tool have a weakness... that it must NOT MOVE in the turn that it chunnels. This version, 026h, might fix this. I WAS WRONG the Slip-Chunnel still functions. What Tim changed about towing a chunnel ship I don't know. I know that he had code that permitted cloning at a starbase as long as the Firecloud was NOT chunnel ready... maybe it impacts this....??? The PBP build code has also changed. In the current version, if the PBP leader is not building, then the PBx codes are ignored. There have also been reports of apparently random builds. In 026h, a race that is not building ships has no effect on the PBP build sequence. A race that has an extremely large PBP pool, gets to build 11 PBP ships before the other races get a chance. Once the other races get to build either all they can or 11 ships, then the leader with the big pool of points can continue to build. |
