How Version 4 hits Robo

Now that Version 4 Beta is out, anyone interested in playing in a Beta4 game should turn on the V4Beta flag at http://www.robomaster.ca/vgapcfig.htm, the player config page. I'll write in some code to figure out anyone flagged as interested who is not already in one of the version 4 games....

You could also look for a vacancy in one of the version 4 games that might appear in the vacancy page.

I forgot to update this page when my status changed. As of some time last year, I have a second system running Windows/NT. PHost version 3 is running over there and VGAP version 4 is too. VGAP3 in the form of Tim's 3.22.xxx host and PHost 3 will continue to run at Robo for as long as there are players playing the game. One complication to running version 4 games is that every time the V4Host runs, the script that controls the execution crashes... the next time a new game comes up as wanting to be run. It ONLY happens with V4Host, and I haven't been able to figure out why yet...

As of some time early 2003, I had to give up hosting V4 until I rewrite everything. The game file sizes exceed my currently coded game buffer... which is why I need recoding. My OS/2 virtual disk is running with only a few meg freespace, and these games sometimes blow it away. So for the sake of the V3 games and stability I can't continue V4 until I complete that rewrite.
