More detailed doc is on the way... The Well World is a planet where the central computer that stabilizes the reality of the Echo Cluster is hidden. (as per Jack Chalker's series "The Well of Souls") The owner of the Well World can use planetary friendly codes to effect changes inside other planets. Almost anything can be changed... one factor at a time. It would take several turns to create a p[erfect world, but sometimes small changes spread throughout your empire can make a world of difference. Some examples of the type of things that can be changed, from the hundreds of possibilities... Change those Amorphous natives to Bovinoids, increase the mineral extraction rate from 10% to 100%, convert half the Neutronium deposit to Molybinum, create Clans from rock, add fighter bays to that Frieghter... The possibilities are scary. Some limits and switchs are being constructed, but the current version doesn't have these. The posted shareware version will never have the config options, nor the ship code. --------------- HOW TO USE ----------------- To use the Well certain condition must be met: 1. You must find it. It is a single world somewhere in the cluster. 2. You must occupy it. A single clan is all it'll hold. To use it: 1. Set the friendly code of the Well to equal the planet you wish changed. 2. Set the friendly code of the planet you wished changed to the special code that makes the change. All codes are two character codes, and require the third random character that the Well sends you in a message the first turn you land on it. It does not repeat this random character, so don't forget it. If you do forget it, then leave the Well for one turn and re-land on it. ---------- PLANETARY CODES ----------------- Targetting an enemy world is valid, if the world does not have a valid control code, then a random effect will be observed. The target planet can target a ship by using a numeric code between 1 and 500. If the targetted ship does not exist, then a random effect will be applied to the target world. Transmutation: Cargo: _xy where x is source and y is destination valid values: N - core Neutronium T - core Tritanium D - core Duranium M - core Molybdenum n - surface Neutronium t - surface Tritanium d - surface Duranium m - surface Molybdenum c - surface Colonists s - surface Supplies $ - surface Credits scaling factors: converting to Clans results in a 95% loss of mass. converting to surface from core results in 50% loss of mass. converting to code from surface results in a doubling of mass. Natives: _Px where x is the target type of natives valid values: H - Humanoid B - Bovinoid R - Reptilian A - Avian M - Amorphous F - Amphibian I - Insectoid G - Ghipsoldal S - Siliconoid Alteration: '/' change density NTDM - increase mineral density ntdm - decrease mineral density '+', '-' general change NTDM - core mineral ntdm - surface mineral cs$ - clans, supplies, credits PHG - native population, happiness, and government h - colonist happiness C - climate ---------- SHIP CODES ----------------- Using the ship codes you can alter a Super Frieghter by putting fighter bays on it, or convert a Small Frieghter into a Gorbie (the Gorbie would have no beams and no bays, that would require further alteration codes and turns). Targetting an enemy ship is valid. If they do not have a valid alteration code, then a purly random effect will be observed. To target a ship see the planetary code section, on purely numeric planetary codes. The targetted ship can use planetary codes to effect changes to a world that the ship is orbitting. The planet does not have to belong to the WellWorld owner. (Use the Well to transmute a ship into a cloaker, and sneak in over your enemies' homeworld and change it into an arctic hell, or transmute all his clans to Amorphous natives). Component modification: Tertiary code is either the count or the type represented by the values '0' through 'A', where 'A' is 10. 'W' - Beam weapon type (not tech, but type) 'E' - Engine type 'T' - Torpedoe type 'w' - Beam weapon count 't' - Torpedoe launcher count 'f' - Fighter bay count Hull modification: The hull codes are the numeric hull type code as per the following list: 01: OUTRIDER CLASS SCOUT 02: NOCTURNE CLASS DESTROYER 03: BOHEMIAN CLASS SURVEY SHIP 04: VENDETTA CLASS FRIGATE 05: NEBULA CLASS CRUISER 06: BANSHEE CLASS DESTROYER 07: LOKI CLASS DESTROYER 08: EROS CLASS RESEARCH VESSEL 09: BRYNHILD CLASS ESCORT 10: ARKHAM CLASS FRIGATE 11: THOR CLASS FRIGATE 12: DIPLOMACY CLASS CRUISER 13: MISSOURI CLASS BATTLESHIP 14: NEUTRONIC FUEL CARRIER 15: SMALL DEEP SPACE FREIGHTER 16: MEDIUM DEEP SPACE FREIGHTER 17: LARGE DEEP SPACE FREIGHTER 18: SUPER TRANSPORT FREIGHTER 19: KITTYHAWK CLASS CARRIER 20: NOVA CLASS SUPER-DREADNOUGHT 21: REPTILE CLASS DESTROYER 22: LIZARD CLASS CRUISER 23: T-REX CLASS BATTLESHIP 24: SERPENT CLASS ESCORT 25: SAURIAN CLASS LIGHT CRUISER 26: WHITE FALCON CLASS CRUISER 27: SWIFT HEART CLASS SCOUT 28: FEARLESS WING CRUISER 29: DARK WING CLASS BATTLESHIP 30: VALIANT WIND CLASS CARRIER 31: RESOLUTE CLASS BATTLECRUISER 32: BRIGHT HEART CLASS DESTROYER 33: DETH SPECULA CLASS FRIGATE 34: D7a PAINMAKER CLASS CRUISER 35: VICTORIOUS CLASS BATTLESHIP 36: D7 COLDPAIN CLASS CRUISER 37: ILL WIND CLASS BATTLECRUISER 38: D3 THORN CLASS DESTROYER 39: D19b NEFARIOUS CLASS DESTROYER 40: LITTLE PEST CLASS ESCORT 41: SABER CLASS FRIGATE 42: LADY ROYALE CLASS CRUISER 43: DWARFSTAR CLASS TRANSPORT 44: BR4 CLASS GUNSHIP 45: BR5 KAYE CLASS TORPEDO BOAT 46: METEOR CLASS BLOCKADE RUNNER 47: RED WIND CLASS CARRIER 48: SKYFIRE CLASS CRUISER 49: MADONNZILA CLASS CARRIER 50: BLOODFANG CLASS CARRIER 51: B200 CLASS PROBE 52: BIOCIDE CLASS CARRIER 53: ANNIHILATION CLASS BATTLESHIP 54: B41 EXPLORER 55: B222 DESTROYER 56: FIRECLOUD CLASS CRUISER 57: WATCHER CLASS SCOUT 58: QUIETUS CLASS CRUISER 59: SMALL TRANSPORT 60: RUBY CLASS LIGHT CRUISER 61: EMERALD CLASS BATTLECRUISER 62: SKY GARNET CLASS DESTROYER 63: DIAMOND FLAME CLASS BATTLESHIP 64: ONYX CLASS FRIGATE 65: TOPEZ CLASS GUNBOAT 66: OPAL CLASS TORPEDO BOAT 67: CRYSTAL THUNDER CLASS CARRIER 68: MOSCOW CLASS STAR ESCORT 69: SUPER STAR DESTROYER 70: GORBIE CLASS BATTLECARRIER 71: RU25 GUNBOAT 72: H-ROSS CLASS LIGHT CARRIER 73: MIG CLASS SCOUT 74: SUPER STAR CRUISER 75: SUPER STAR FRIGATE 76: SUPER STAR CARRIER 77: PL21 PROBE 78: INSTRUMENTALITY CLASS BASESHIP 79: GOLEM CLASS BASESHIP 80: AUTOMA CLASS BASESHIP 81: CAT'S PAW CLASS DESTROYER 82: Q TANKER 83: CYBERNAUT CLASS BASESHIP 84: PAWN CLASS BASESHIP 85: IRON SLAVE CLASS BASESHIP 86: TRANQUILITY CLASS CRUISER 87: FALCON CLASS ESCORT 88: GAURDIAN CLASS DESTROYER 89: IRON LADY CLASS FRIGATE 90: SAGE CLASS FRIGATE 91: DEEP SPACE SCOUT 92: PATRIOT CLASS LIGHT CARRIER 93: ARMORED TRANSPORT 94: RUSH CLASS HEAVY CARRIER 95: LITTLE JOE CLASS ESCORT 96: COBOL CLASS RESEARCH CRUISER 97: ARIES CLASS TRANSPORT 98: TAURUS CLASS SCOUT 99: VIRGO CLASS BATTLESTAR A0: SAGITTARIUS CLASS TRANSPORT A1: GEMINI CLASS TRANSPORT A2: SCORPIUS CLASS LIGHT CARRIER A3: CYGNUS CLASS DESTROYER A4: NEUTRONIC REFINERY SHIP A5: MERLIN CLASS ALCHEMY SHIP
